News

On March 1, the grand opening of the Great Circle Line of the Moscow Subway took place, in which Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin took part.

Great Circle Line is the world's largest subway construction project, which is being executed since 2011. Today, the last section, which closed the circle, was launched. The length of it is 70km. Previously, the second ring line of the Beijing Subway was considered the longest, with a length of 57km. Great Circle Line includes 31 stations and three electric engine houses.

SVEL Group supplied equipment to 15 out of 31 Great Circle Line subway stations: only in 2021-2022, more than 100 cast-resin dry-type transformers with power from 63kVA to 2500kVA were manufactured for the Moscow Subway.

To ensure the conversion of electricity in all subsystems of the stations, 20 different types of power and converter transformers were supplied. Taking into account the special requirements of the customer and the use of SVEL's own developments and experience made it possible to supply transformers in accordance with the technical policy of the State Unitary Enterprise Moscow Subway, taking into account the harsh operating conditions in underground substations. Such transformers are featured high level of reliability for the daily transportation of more than a million passengers.

Since 2008, SVEL dry-type transformers have been providing reliable power supply to Moscow Subway stations: electric train rolling stock, escalators, lighting, communications and commercial areas.
