Main and backup protection cabinet of double (three) winding transformer (OLTC) is designed for realization of main and backup protection of transformer, as well as automatic regulation of voltage under load of (auto) transformer. The cabinet includes main protection terminal of a double winding transformer, transformer backup protection terminal and transformer HV circuit breaker control automatics, terminal for automatic voltage regulation of (auto) transformer under load.

Description

Double Winding Transformer Protection Cabinet performs the range of protection functions for connected transformer. It can be used with double-winding transformer, commonly high and low voltage and equal voltage in case of dividing transformers.

These cabinets can operate individually and as part of a set of protection and/or control cabinets. Unlike the protection shield, the cabinet is not mounted in a niche and has four metal walls.

  • Maximum current protection is relay protection of the entire network against short-circuit, increasing the current strength in the presence of a fault.
  • Gas protection allows to prevent the explosion of the transformer oil tank in case of damage to live parts and subsequent overheating.
  • Current cutoff is maximum current protection, which is used in a selected section of the circuit.
  • Busbar protection scheme disconnects a line section in case of an emergency, in particular, a short circuit occurrence.
  • Negative phase-sequence protection is applied to protect the generator against reverse sequence currents occurring in the presence of unbalanced loads.
  • Current open-phase protection saves connected to network mechanisms, such as electro-motors, from loss of phase in the circuit.
  • Minimum voltage protection provides protection for the connected equipment in case of short-term voltage drops.
  • Transformer technological protections - a standard set of technological protections such as monitoring the oil level in the tank, the temperature of the upper oil layers and transformer windings, monitoring the cooling system and providing data on its serviceability.

Double Winding Transformer Protection Cabinet standard assembly includes all-metal sheets case. The cabinet can be made with one or two doors (one-sided or two-sided). Two-sided cabinet is equipped with mounting plate and detent. Through door arrangement provides better access to content, eases the work with equipment. Front door can be either solid or with a viewing window which allows to monitor equipment condition without door opening.

The cabinet contains the installed equipment, cable glands and cable connections. The assembly also includes additional accessories (lamps, indicators, etc; spare parts quantity specified in passport), keys for doors (one per cabinet). Operation documentation is also applied.

Customer shall indicate design features in Configuration Data Sheet or during consultation. A number of variations in design are available, which allows to choose the design to the specific operational needs.

Case is available in standard dimensions 2000х800х600mm and 2000х600х600mm (H\W\D). Mounting base and protective screen, when included in the design, can be 200mm or 100mm. Deviations from specified values can be implemented upon customer`s request.

Cable input can be located below or above. Auxiliary supply voltage =220V, ~220V, =110V. Customer shall specify rated current of current transformer` s second windings from HV and LV sides.

Control panel may include:

  • Circuit-breaker position indication (earthing blade)
  • Multifunctional measuring device
  • Digital voltmeter with voltage selector switch
  • OLTC control with position indicator (resistive sensor, selsyn transmitter, BCD)

Depending on the communication interface with the automatic control system, different communication cables can be used in cabinet`s assembly. For MODBUS-RTU, GOST R IEC 60870-5-101-2006, GOST R IEC 60870-5-103-2005 types RS-485 cables are applicable. For MODBUS-TCP, GOST R IEC 60870-5-104-2005 and IEC 61850 (MMS, GOOSE) standard Ethernet 10/100 BASE-TX or fiber optic Ethernet 10/100 BASE-FX. Fiber optic cable is appropriate when there is a requirement of reliable signal transmission for long distances (up to 2km).
