Krasnoyarskaya Hydro Power Plant – the second largest HPP in Russia – has completed the significant stage of the upgrade. The final 7th transformer manufactured by SVEL, with the rated power of 630MVA was received at Divnogorsk, the city of power engineers. Since 2021, along with modernization of hydro units, the transformers were replaced at this NPP.
Participating in Krasnoyarskaya HPP upgrades means a lot for SVEL, as this was preceded by a continuous preparation activity. TC-630,000/220 Transformers tailor-made for this project are by no doubt the most powerful in SVEL’s product line. This transformer is equipped with the modern DSA (Dissolved Gas Analyzer) and monitoring systems that ensure online tracking of each critical parameter. SVEL experts developed the automation modules to control the external cooling system, as well as arranged the delivery of the custom-designed oil pumps.
The logistics team worked hard on the detailed transportation route for oversized cargos totaled about 300 tons by weight, and 4 meter by height. Each transformer was transported from Yekaterinburg to Divnogorsk by railways, and then was reloaded to 92-wheeler board trawl.
Special 40-meter interlink railway transporter was used for this project. SVEL Design Engineers had to both adjust their initial drawing to this specific case, and offered an additional solution, i.e. a platform-type beam, to secure the equipment on the board. It allowed reducing the weight of transformer’s body by 15 tons.
The large-scale power station upgrade project is scheduled till 2031. Due to this, it is planned to grow the clean electricity output to 5%, while decreasing the load to coal-fueled thermal power stations and, therefore, cut the carbon footprint.
