SVEL’s equipment supplies energy to Bashennaya Small-size Hydroelectric Power Plant (SHPP), launched in the mountains of the North Caucasus in the summer of 2025. The substation was manufactured and delivered on a turnkey basis, with 16 MVA SVEL dry-type cast resin transformer.
Traditionally, oil-insulated power transformers are used in hydropower industry. These impressively large transformers are supposed to meet the requirements for the cooling system and fire safety, given the limited space and complex operations conditions at Bashennaya SHPP. SVEL's alternative solution allowed to avoid these limitations and accelerate the work of design engineers.
The scope of supply also included outdoor switchgear equipment (OSG), including SVEL 35 kV disconnectors. In addition, the company manufactured 6-10 kV distribution switchgears and auxiliary transformers for the power supply center.
The energy generated by 10 MW Bashennaya Small-size Hydroelectric Power Station is enough for 10,000 households. The power plant was built as part of the Small-size HPP Construction Program that is being implemented in the North Caucasus. Such facilities minimally burden the ecosystem, without requiring the construction of dams and land flooding.
