The final stage of a new ice palace construction designed for 12,000 people, for Torpedo Ice Hockey Club, has started. SVEL Group manufactured and shipped 8 TSD-2500/10 UHL3 dry-type cast resin transformers to the site.
Besides, the delivery scope included an additional cooling system and a vent control cabinet, as well as a shock absorber to efficiently reduce vibrations and noise level.
The ice palace on Strelka (the area where Volga River meets Oka River) is scheduled to be commissioned by the fall of 2025. In terms of capacity, this ice palace is more than twice as large as the team’s current base. The arena will host competitions in hockey, figure skating, and curling, and also can become concert and exhibition venue. The total area of the five‑story building is 70,000 square meters; the project incorporates the most advanced engineering solutions.
Over the latest years, SVEL Group has delivered transformer equipment to numerous sports facilities, including some very large sites. For instance, in March this year a multifunctional site has opened in Yekaterinburg, totaled 12,000 seats. The power supply system of the arena includes 10 dry-type cast resin transformers by SVEL, their power varies from 1,250kVA to 2,000kVA.
