Bratsk Aluminum Plant applied to SVEL with an installed powerful transformer using aluminum windings produced by the enterprise, although usually aluminum is not used for the production of transformers. For RUSAL, the fulfillment of this order was a search for new markets for aluminum.
SVEL specialists managed to solve the problem by using combined windings. The oil-immersed transformer, manufactured by SVEL, became the first domestic transformer of such power, where an aluminum winding is used.
This transformer is used at the main step-down substation of the enterprise.
