SVEL’s Experts: Modern 10kV Switchgears Assist in Avoiding Accidents

News

SVEL Group hosted a workshop for engineers in terms of practical use of 6 (10)kV packaged switchgears.

Special emphasis was given to the features of SVEL’s switchgears that eliminate the risks of electrical injuries while operating the equipment. This workshop aroused a high interest within the industry: the participants of the event dived into the case studies on the ways to avoid an accident by using SVEL products.

One of the most sever hazards, when the arc discharge gets out of the containment. It often leads to lethal accidents, if anyone is near the switchgear. If a fire spreads over the whole unit, serious financial damage may follow. The practical experience proves, to contain the arc inside, 2mm wall thickness near the spot of the incident is not enough.

The total thickness of SVEL switchgear’s wall is 4mm. those are designed so as to lock the combustion products inside the containment, and protect the operator.

Besides, a wide range of locking units for SVEL Switchgear eliminates both an unauthorized access inside and the possibility of electric shock for personnel.

Every operator shall be permitted to operate the previously de-energized unit only. The status of the main switching elements and all actions of the personnel are remotely controlled by sensors.
